ŠKODA Fabia Super 2000

The project "ŠKODA FABIA SUPER 2000" borned from the automotive company "ŠKODA AUTO a.s.", based in Mlada Boleslav in the Czech Republic, with the aim of producing a simple rally car of class Super 2000 but at the same time performant and functional, able to bring the ŠKODA brand at the highest levels of international rallying. After a process of 18 months between design, development and testing, the "small" Fabia second-generation rally version debuted in 2009 in Monte Carlo in the first round of the 'Intercontinental Rally Challenge" (IRC), establishing itself immediately as one of the cars more competitive in its category.

The group sees with the ŠKODA Fabia S2000 the opportunity to re-enter the world of racing after the official retirement in 2005, even through the collaboration with the official distributors of each countries.

After an intense pre-project, in April 2007 the real planning begins. After 9 months, the first prototype is realized, thereby entering the test phase that sees the newly Fabia S2000 take its first steps into the private circuit test drive of Skoda.

" From the emotional point of view, there are two key moments when working on the design of a new rally car" - commented the engineers proponents of the project - the first is when you made the first prototype, the second when you test the car to assess the actual performance. Seeing the Fabia S2000 for the first time was a thrill but the satisfaction was even greater when we tested it on the track and we realized how much was fast and competitive.

And this even though it was only a prototype, mostly in the beginning of the phase test! "

Successfully completed the testing phase and the development, the Czech company passes in November 2008 to put into production, building cars Fabia S2000 entirely produced in the factory in Mlada Boleslav.

Following approval in January 2009, the first Fabia S2000 debuts at the "Monte Carlo Rally", on the occasion of the first round of the IRC, picking up a good result and excellent technical feedback.

To date (May 2013) ŠKODA has achieved 64 specimens, implementing various improvements and updates. These cars are used in various rally championships, managed by official and private teams in different countries.

These include Race Art Technology who owns a Fabia S2000 car and supports the ŠKODA Motorsport project as the official licensee of the brand in Switzerland.

The car after each event in a national or international locations, comes back to the workshop in Balerna where it is disassembled, reassembled and prepared for the next race.

The Fabia Super 2000, according to FIA specifications for the category, is equipped with a 4-cylinder naturally aspirated engine of 265 horsepower, six-speed sequential gearbox and four-wheel drive with two differentials.
